An affordable way into IPL...

An affordable way to dip a toe into the world of IPL, this Philips Lumea Prestige is one of the more basic cordless models that the company makes. Its design is the same as the SC2007 with a comfortable, smart housing and a neat storage pouch to keep it safe.

This Lumea only comes with a body attachment, making it ideal for those who only want to use it on legs and stomach. The 4cm window allows for easy, fast sessions and the five intensity settings mean you can use a setting that suits you and your skin tone.

The Slide and Flash mode is ideal with this machine as it allows you to continuously hold the flash button down, allowing it to flash continuously with two seconds in between, as you slide the device along your leg. This makes for a very fast action and since you only need to do this every four to six weeks after the first few times, you’ll save yourself so much time.

With no replacement parts needed, this IPL system will be a breath of fresh air compared to hair removal methods like waxing and shaving. It’s so simple and you have to do it so infrequently that you’ll swear you’ll never turn back. This Lumea SC2005 also has a lifetime of 250,000 flashes, which equates to around 10 years of use. This is much better than the 140,000 flashes of the SC2006 and means that this machine is a real long-term investment.

Because the Philips Lumea range has a safety ring system around the window, it will only flash when in full contact with your skin. This is great for ensuring that it only flashes into your skin and not while you’re, say, looking right at it to see if the window is clean. With integrated UV filter, this machine is safe and you can use it long-term without any concerns – as long as you have the right skin type of course.

With 370 flashes in just one charge, this machine hardly ever needs charging and you should be able to use it for months. When the time does come to charge it, it only takes around 100 minutes to reach full. Machines that need charging continually are annoying and time consuming but this will just keep going and going.
